Have you ever heard the songs of Vampire Weekend? Vampire Weekend is one of the best indie rock band groups from New York and also one of my favorite rock band groups. According to All Music guide, they s tarted as a rock band group in 2006 and signed to XL Recordings, a British independent record label.
The most recent album is named Contra, released in 2010, and they are best known for their singles “Mansard Roof”, “A-Punk”, “Oxford Comma” and “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa”. Their songs are not like other rock music, but it is obviously rock music. There are three main points why I like them; their music, melodies and rhythms, words and their characteristics.
First of all, their music or melody is definitely different with other American rock band groups. Their music is actually based on African music, pop music, rock music and African music, for example, the most famous musician of African music is Tabu Ley Rochereau. African music is similar to house music that means that when people hear the music, they can dance or feel high. Major image of people on the rock band is more aggressive, kind of stupid and broking a guitar. This is just my opinion but it is majority of opinion. Their songs are more fun than aggressive because the rhythm is obviously unique and not like other songs.
The next main point is their lyrics are very unique and very knowledgeable. The all member of Vampire Weekend graduated Columbia University, one of the high education universities in the United States. Moreover, that a lead singer and one of the guitarists is named Ezra Koenig, attended Columbia University where he majored in English. Also, he makes lyrics, so the lyrics that he made are very unique. For example, the lyrics mention their hometown and their second hometown in New York, and also they are singing about some historic things such as history and war. Consequently, we deeply consider what going on the lyrics, what that means and something like that.
They have very nice characteristics. The group is five; Ezra Koenig, Rostam Batmanglij, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Chris Tomson, the drummer, and Chris Baio, the bassist. Each member has unique characteristics, and it fuses together very well. Ezra is so well spoken and educated. Moreover, his interview is very funny because he speaks very well and occasionally he says jokes. Rostam Batmanglij is very fashionable, and also his act is funny, for example, during concert, he dances very well. Chris Tomson is one of the funniest people in this group because he always smiles and jokes. Chris Baio is a good guitarist, and also he can be DJ. All of the member are so unique, and each member has own style.
Vampire Weekend is the hottest rock band in the world now, and every people are interested in them. Their sounds are very unique like when people hear their songs, people can dance and feel high or fun. Moreover, they are very knowledgeable and educated, so the lyrics that they wrote are very unique and original. Thereto, their characteristics are also unique and fun. Vampire Weekend will be more famous rock band all over the world. Anyhow, you should check the band out and enjoy the songs.
